The Oklahoma City Thunder just got a massive blow.

They lost more than just a big game against the Golden State Warriors.

They will now be without their second-best player for over two months.

According to a report by Shams Charania of ESPN, star big man Chet Holmgren suffered a right iliac hip fracture.

Per Charania, his “return to play protocol” will begin in 8 to 10 weeks.

Needless to say, it didn’t take long before the fans rallied around the announcement to share their thoughts on this unfortunate news.

Holmgren was playing at a superlative level, and he was instrumental in everything the Thunder wanted to do.

On top of that, OKC is relatively thin in the frontcourt right now, as Isaiah Hartenstein won’t be able to make his debut for the next couple of weeks at the very least, and they’re also missing Jaylin Williams.

This is Holmgren’s second significant injury in just three seasons.

He missed his entire rookie year with a foot injury he suffered before the start of the year, and he’ll now miss at least two months with a different ailment.

Concerns about durability were always present due to his frame, particularly when facing stronger centers.

It was encouraging that he was still able to play every single game last season despite spending a lot of time at the five.

The Thunder have one of the best records in the league right now, but it’ll be tough to hold down the fort without their young star.
