George Karl spent many years coaching teams in the NBA and he learned a lot of things about how the league works, for better or for worse.

He might not be coaching anymore, but Karl is still a devoted fan and feels there are some ways the league could get better.

Writing on X, Karl said, “There are too many development games with too many young players. And players are missing too many games.”

“Those things hurt the Fan who wants more great games and should be prioritized,” Karl continued.

Unsurprisingly, he also added, “And I really want the Sonics Back!”

That last comment from Karl is a no-brainer because he coached the SuperSonics for seven seasons.

He also coached the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets, and Sacramento Kings.

Karl’s point about development games is interesting.

Many young players indeed need time before they perform to the best of their abilities.

As for players missing games, everyone agrees that happens far too often.

There have already been multiple NBA stars who have gone down so far in this season and many of them will miss a considerable amount of time.

While Karl’s points make a lot of sense, it’s not clear how all of this can be achieved.

Unless there are changes to the draft, conditioning, and perhaps the length of the season, these things will keep occurring.

As for the Seattle SuperSonics coming back, reports around the NBA suggest Karl may get his wish soon.
