Brock Boeser’s status is unknown, but Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot has been handed supplementary discipline from the NHL for his dangerous hit to the head of the Vancouver Canucks’ winger on Thursday night.

The NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced Friday morning that Jeannot has been suspended for three games.
Jeannot was handed a match penalty for an illegal check to the head early in Thursday’s game, which the Canucks won 4-2. Boeser, looking a little groggy, left the game and did not return. A match penalty brings an automatic review for supplementary discipline by the league.
The NHL made it clear in the video explaining their ruling that Jeannot could have avoided hitting Boeser in the head. Boeser’s head was also the main point of contact, the league emphasized.
“It is Jeannot who is in control of this hit,” the NHL said flatly.
Boeser suffering an injury on the play was part of the NHL’s evaluation of the hit.

There was no update on Boeser’s status post-game, but sources suggest Boeser is dealing with a concussion.

If Boeser has a concussion he won’t be able to play for at least five days as he works his way through the standard return-to-play protocol.
