Muskingum baseball sophomore Sam Palmieri, junior Weston Melick, and senior Wyatt Reeder were all honored for their academic excellence by being named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team.
Palmieri, a history major, hit .315 and led the team with a .475 on-base percentage, 44 runs, 28 walks, 16 hit-by-pitches, six sacrifice hits, five home runs, and two triples. He also added 24 RBIs, 20 stolen bases, and 10 doubles.
Melick, a history-inclusive social studies major, led the team with a .354 batting average and 51 hits. He also registered 31 RBIs, 30 runs scored, 12 stolen bases, six doubles, and three home runs.
Reeder, a biology major, hit .326 and led the Ohio Athletic Conference with 36 stolen bases. He also notched 33 runs, 17 RBIs, eight doubles, and four sacrifice hits.
To be nominated for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a starter or significant contributor to their team, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and reach sophomore athletic and academic standing at the school.
