The New York Yankees received some tough news recently as their superstar outfielder Juan Soto chose to sign with the New York Mets in free agency this offseason.
Many people around Major League Baseball believed Soto’s decision would come down to the Mets or the Yankees, which ultimately it sounds like it did.
Soto signed with the Mets for $765 million over 15 years while it was reported that the Yankees offered somewhere around $760 million over 16 years.
MLB Insider Jon Heyman reported one thing that the Yankees wouldn’t give Soto in their contract offer.
Heyman reported that the Yankees wouldn’t budge on giving Soto a suite at Yankee Stadium.
Per @JonHeyman (https://t.co/JSujYVcHY2), the Yankees “wouldn’t budge” on giving Juan Soto a suite at Yankee Stadium, feeling that it couldn’t be done when Aaron Judge & Derek Jeter paid for their suites.

Heyman reported that the reason the Yankees couldn’t offer Soto a suite is because Aaron Judge and Derek Jeter had paid for their suites previously.
While it is unknown if this was a deal breaker for Soto, the Mets and their billionaire owner Steve Cohen included a Citi Field suite for Soto’s family in his deal.
The Yankees appear to have done all they could to bring Soto back next season, but now they will have to adapt to life after Soto.
With the largest deal in MLB history now done with, the Yankees can look elsewhere for free agent talent.
By not signing Soto, the Yankees have plenty of money to spend on the still very talented free agent class available.
The Yankees will look to get back to the World Series in 2025 and win their first title since the 2009 season.
