When it rains, it pours for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Joe Burrow’s great season hasn’t been enough to keep his team afloat, and the league doesn’t seem to like their chances of turning things around.
With that in mind, they’ve officially flexed them out of Thursday Night Football.
The Bengals were supposed to square off vs. the Cleveland Browns on Thursday in Week 16.
But the league made a business decision with the Browns sitting on a 3-8 record and the Bengals not much better at 4-7.
Instead, they’ll showcase the divisional clash between the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers.
When asked about that, coach Sean Payton had a comical yet honest response (via Zac Stevens):
“We’d rather be flexed in than flexed out,” he admitted.

Not many people expected the Broncos to be as good or competitive as they’ve been this season.
They’re currently 6-5, and they’ve kept it close even in the losses.
Their defense continues to be one of the best in the game, and Bo Nix seems tailor-made to run Payton’s offense.
The Chargers are also in the race for a playoff spot, and with both teams likely to keep going strong in the next month, chances are that game might have some major implications for the postseason race.
We could even see a “win and get in” scenario for this primetime, hard-nosed, physical divisional matchup.
The Broncos are finally looking like the team the fans hoped they’d be with Coach Payton at the helm, and they seem to have a bright future ahead of them.
