This summer, the Muskingum baseball program saw multiple members competing across the region and country.
New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCLB) saw two Muskies this summer. Shoei Yamashita saw action on the mound with the Olean Oilers, while Cole Herman competed on the bump for the Salamanca Lizards.
The Collegiate League of the Palm Beaches played host to two Muskies, Mike Davis and Gerard Hudson. Davis for the Vipers and Hudson for the Wellington Colts.
Two Muskies are playing in the Old North State Collegiate League in North Carolina. Nate Fuerstman is a member of the Pineville Porcupines, the defending 2023 summer league champions, and Jackson Duchesne is with the Hendersonville Honeycrisps.
One Muskie saw the opportunity to compete in the Beach Collegiate League in Myrtle Beach, SC. Benny Hess suited up and helped the Waccamaw Waves win the league championship.
Max Vosters saw plenty of action on the mound in the Ohio Valley League (OVL), playing with the Paducah Chiefs in Paducah, Kentucky.
Another solo Muskie got the opportunity to compete in the Back Bay Prospect League in Sandusky, Ohio. Parker Hon stepped on the mound all summer for the Erie Muffleheads.
Grant Mellerson was the solo Muskie in the Maryland Collegiate Baseball League (MCBL). He suited up for the Baltimore Chop all summer long and helped them win the MCBL championship.
The Ohio Collegiate Summer Baseball League featured 13 Muskies. Noah Blecha, Chris Brison, Nate Johnson, Weston Melick, Aiden Reis, Jake Roshau, Ryan Schwartz, and Tobie Teke all suited up for the Zanesville Jr. Pioneers, just 15 minutes down the road from campus. Lane Goetz and Weston Hartman competed for the Ohio Bison out of Newark, OH. Joey Eurez, Mason Grant, and Sam Palmieri all took the diamonds from Columbus, Ohio, for the TNT Knights.
Professional Baseball Update
2022 graduate Jake Norris is currently competing in the Pecos Professional Baseball League with the Garden City Wind, where he made the All-Star team in his first season with the Wind. Norris is the 4th ranked pitcher in the Pecos League with a 7-0 record and posting a 3.12 ERA in 66.1 innings of work. He is 2nd in the league with 84 strikeouts.
