Softball falls in opening game of Super Regional

The Muskingum softball team fell in the NCAA Super Regional opening game against Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday afternoon, 6-1. Game two of the best-of-three series is scheduled for Friday, May 24, at 1:00 p.m.

• This marks Muskingum’s 21st NCAA Regional Appearance in program history.

How it Happened

• Muskingum took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on sophomore Sadie Smith‘s RBI groundout. Sophomore Cara Taylor scored the Muskie lone run after reaching base via an error to open the game.
• Virginia Wesleyan tied the game in the bottom of the third with one run on one hit.
• The Marlins took the lead in the bottom of the fourth by scoring two runs on three hits. Alison Pollack highlighted the inning with a solo home run.
• Virginia Wesleyan competed the scoring with three runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth.
