The Minnesota Vikings won 14 games in the regular season with Sam Darnold as their starting quarterback.
Their reward for that is the opportunity to face the Los Angeles Rams in the first round of the playoffs, which they will have to do on the road.
While Darnold turned in a Pro Bowl campaign on a one-year deal, his future is still up in the air, considering the team drafted rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy in the first round of the NFL Draft last offseason.
Good Morning Football’s Kyle Brandt believes Darnold’s starting job could be on the line against the Rams.
“I think he has a lot to prove…If he loses, I don’t think he’s the Vikings’ starting quarterback next year…He has to play for the rest of his career here,” Brandt said (via “The Good Morning Football Podcast”).

Darnold had a career year for himself this season.
He threw for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns, and completed 361 passes.
If not for his play, the Vikings would likely not be in the position they are in now.
This wildcard game coming up against the Los Angeles Rams will be his first-ever playoff game as a starting NFL quarterback.
He was never able to get there as a member of the New York Jets or Carolina Panthers, but he saw the playoffs in a backup capacity with the San Francisco 49ers last season.
If Darnold goes out and plays poorly and causes his team’s season to end, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell could have a tough decision to make at quarterback this offseason.
