On Thursday night, rookie phenom Jayden Daniels and the upstart Washington Commanders will play perhaps their most important game of the 2024 NFL season thus far, as they will go on the road to face the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles in hostile territory at Lincoln Financial Field.
With the Commanders being one of the surprise teams in the league this year, the Eagles will have their hands full with Daniels and company, as Washington can seemingly compete with anyone at this point in the season.
However, after winning three straight games, the Commanders are coming off a one-point loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and now have had to make a change at the kicker position due to injury.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, kicker Austin Seibert is battling a hip injury, which has resulted in the Commanders promoting Zane Gonzalez from their practice squad in order to play tonight’s game against the Eagles in Philadelphia.

With this game being crucial to the outcome of the NFC East division, the Commanders wanted no disadvantage coming into this matchup with a very good Eagles team currently on a roll having won five straight games.
It’ll be interesting to see if this sudden change at kicker hurts Washington’s chances of coming out on top on the road and winning this critical divisional matchup, as it might make head coach Dan Quinn think twice about the kicking game at times during the contest.
Fortunately, the Commanders have one of the more potent offenses in the NFL, with Daniels leading the charge, and will likely still give the Eagles all they can handle on Thursday night.
